Rubbish mounts, weak & flimsy

1

A good camera/light combo completely ruined by a very poorly designed mount. (I could add I'm a design engineer by profession, I wouldn't want to be associated with anything designed this poorly). Had mine 4 or 5 weeks before the clamp snapped, and only used on road bike so far; I expect MTB use it would have snapped in a very short time. Now trying to get a refund under the Consumer Rights Act under "Unfit for purpose", which it clearly is. The camera/light may be good, but unusable without a clamp/mount, so it becomes an expensive object d'art, which I don#t particularly want.

Disappointing

1

I've had this camera for about a year and it is more headaches than it is worth. The user interface is impossible. Is it recording? Is it not recording? The only indication is 2 pin hole sized lights that light up green, yellow, or red. What do they mean? I'm not taking my user manual on rides nor do I want to stop to read it anyways. The light also just turns off at random. That's the most annoying part because then I become less visible to cars. After a year of use, the camera will only last about 3 hours, with or without the light. The video quality is great when it actually works but overall I do not recommend this camera.

Camera amazing, holder is bad

2

The camera is great and does what it does, but the hold is super bad it broke in my first ride on my road bike in regular pavement. Save yourself of using the camera with the holder, threw it away and hold it to something else, mine fell after the first ride so beware of it. I have pictures but can add them here so I cannot show, but in short: good camera, bad holder.

Just a couple of things away from perfection

Camera quality is excellent battery life brilliant, unit colour and style great. The app is ok but glitchy. 600 lumens is starting to look old and I’d like this to be at least 1000 lumens. Trying to fit this on aero bars along with gps computer and spare light is not easy. I emailed Cycliq to design a mount for aero bars or an adaptor to fit into Garmin mounts but I don’t think they understood my needs. They would make a fortune if they had good aero mounts. So many bikes at my cycling club have aero bars but we all have the same problem trying to get them on our bikes. Lezyne have smashed it wish cycliq would get involved. Overall this is the best on the market and great if you have any little incidents or just want to play back that steep 50 mph hill or share parts of rides with other riders.

Pretty cool, but...

This is a slick product. However, the documentation leaves a lot to be desired. Once you get a memory card in, and have it charged, it takes a while to figure out an ideal configuration for it. And often, the adjusted settings don't get remembered. Many of the nicer attributes such as syncing it with your Garmin require a lot of goggling and searching on YouTube. And it's often tough to tell when it's recording. Be prepared to do a LOT of experimenting.

Very Solid

I had 2 Fly6 (of past generation) and this Fly12 last spring because in my state there is no license plates in front of the cars... It delivers a powerful light and very good video footage. I would prefer a camera only even if getting less battery life. However it also has the alarm that triggers when you park the bike and want to be alerted if the bike moves which is a great plus. The adaptor which lets you install the Fly12 on a GoPro connector is a great idea also.

Great Combination

I have better individual lights, there are probably better individual cameras - but as a combination this is excellent. Light - lots of different settings for beam, flash, pulse. The 600lumen beam is a bit weak for using on country roads without street lights. Camera - Several options to choose image quality - I use the Full HD setting and the playback quality is excellent. Control / Functions - The Cycliq app to select the light, camera, and other options is easy to use, includes a tutorial for dummies like me. Had some problems updating to latest firmware, a few emails exchanged with Cycliq sorted that out. Miscellaneous - Initially just used the handlebar mount provided in the kit. Soon got sick of too many gadgets (eg computer, back-up light, bell) on handlebars and bought the out-front mount to clear some room and look neat. Seems a bit heavy, but no more than any other light with long life battery power. Cost - I procrastinated for months due to cost, and do I really need a camera. Used a PBK sale to decide it was time to buy, glad I did. The PBK sale and a recent Car vs Bike, made up my mind. Although it will not stop an accident, it gives me peace of mind that the event will be captured and I will not have to deal with different versions and fault.

Great camera

Works well but battery life and memory too short. Would be nice if larger micro SD card could be used to record multiple days of rides.
