Handy jacket

This is a very handy jacket to have with you just in case it might rain or there's a bit of drizzle that doesn't warrant a heavier jacket. It's made of very thin, lightweight material and when stuffed into its own central rear pocket (takes a bit of effort) is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Care probably needs to be taken not to tear it. Most of my clothing is a size M and that suits for this jacket, there's good room at the shoulders and my (skinny) arms although it's a close fit around my not quite slim waist. I've worn it once in moderate rain for about 20 minutes and it kept me dry, quite happy with it.

Sportful Hot Pack Ultralight Jacket

Bought one of these Ultralight jackets a couple of years ago in size L. It's very versatile and gets a lot more use than expected. Well ventilated yet does a fine job keeping out rain but really scores as a windproof over long-sleeved jersey or base layer. The body was a snug fit but sleeves were roomy and noisy on windy days so decided to down-size to a size M (just right). Quality and performance make it good value for money so while not cheap, didn't mind a bit paying for a second one. Considering it weighs next to nothing the material is quite durable - though understandably merits care in handling - with a high-quality zipper. Integrated "compression pocket" protects the fabric and means jacket can be easily stashed in a jersey pocket. One of those, "never leave home without it" items. The Grey is quite transparent so club kit shows through while the Red looks plan hot.

Sportful Hotpack U/L

The weather this year has been really awkward - it's too warm for full winter gear but too cold for s/sleeve jersey and shorts only. Going layered up is fine, but when you warm up and want to start stripping off, where do you put all the clobber? So I have been looking for a lightweight jacket that I can put on first thing and probably leave on for the whole ride without overheating. I have only used the Sportful Hot Pack Ultralight Cycling Jacket a couple of times so far but it seems to work well. It provides good wind protection and basic shower-proofing. I wouldn't want to use it if the forecast was for persistent rain, but if breezy with showers - this is the perfect jacket. And if the sun finally does come out, it packs up really small so you don't look like you have your kid's swim-aid on. It is very expensive but so far it has delivered. My only concern is, that the material being so fine, will it last? Time will tell.
