Great wheels for the price. nice smooth ride. and I've picked up rolling speed on descents.
This is the second set purchased. The first had done 10,000plus and are still going but are getting thin on the rims, or so the bike service shop I used tells me. This is to be expected as I ride all year, all weather including in the wet with sand on road and paths. In such conditions the brakes act like a metal file on the rims. Due to all season cycling (commuting 50km/day) I cannot justify top end rims for these rides. I have found these rims offer close to the same free rolling as the more expensive ones and certainly roll a lot better than the lower end. I have also found that they withstand my weight (95kg) and hard riding as I have not broken one spoke whereas the predecessor wheels, of another brand, regularly had spokes break - and there were more spokes in those rims than in these Fulcrum wheels. They have also held their shape well despite some nasty rides through unseen (night) pot holes and on unsealed road. A little issue is the rear rim on both this set and the previous racing 3's seem a little tight to get the tyres on and off (Continental Gatorskins and Four seasons). But not too tight that it cannot be done by hand on the road side.
I purchased the Fulcrum Racing 3’s as an upgrade from the Fulcrum Racing 5’s I was previously using. The improvements in performance may be summarised as follows: 1. Lighter 2. Stiffer 3. Smoother rolling hubs 4. As a result of the above-mentioned points the wheel set requires less effort to reach speed Overall I am satisfied with the purchase and highly recommend the wheel set as an upgrade to the standard wheel sets fitted to most bikes by manufactures as a light and durable alternative at an affordable price point.
