Designed with the legendary Black Chili rubber compound, the Continental Grand Prix 5000 road bike tyre boasts a 10-gram weight reduction in a 25c width, a 12% reduction in rolling resistance and a 20% increase in durability compared with its predecessor. Thanks to the proprietary Laser Grip Technology which creates a micro tread pattern that expands over the shoulder of the tyre, the GP5000 also offers increased all-weather grip, giving you the ability to take even the most technical corners at speed. As a clincher tyre, the Grand Prix 5000 is also incredibly practical and easy to service at roadside too.
Continental believes a comfortable tyre is a fast tyre – which is why the GP5000 now comes in a 32mm width and is constructed with Active Comfort Technology to help smooth the sharpest shocks from the roughest roads. Lined with the tear-resistant but ultra-lightweight Vectran fibres, the GP5000 sets new standards for puncture protection in road race tyres. So, whether you’re training in a downpour or racing in the sunshine, you’ll have complete confidence that your tyre out-performs the competition in every category and in all possible conditions.

Have used Conti 4000 GP for years and wasn't sure about change. However, nothing to be worried about the 5000 have reassuring build quality and having now raced several times on them they perform well. Good grip, can take a lot of lean into a bend. Hopefully they will also wear well
Excellent racing and everyday tyres
I have used a pair of GP5000 for two-years. this is my third tyre in the GP5000 series and I can vouch for the quality and reliability and peace of mind for this item. I've used these tyres in; storm, snow, grit, summer, rain and dry land. performs absolutely flawlessly. very comfortable, smooth ride with these tyres. almost like you're floating. very good puncture resistance too. I've had a little over a hand full of punctures. most of them were slow punctures, so the tyres fought well against them. other times just got unlucky. very grippy and great around corners. these are my go tyres. if you are unsure what tyres to buy go for these. I will he trying out the pirelli p zero. but I want atleast one of these in case the pirelli doesn't suit my needs. highly recommended. buy with confidence
Waste of money
3 flats in two weeks. I don’t ride to fix flats. I ride for fitness. These tires have paper thin sidewalks and not much more rubber than aloe end tire. Don’t waste your money - like I did.
Continental GP5000 no more
Been riding on Continental GP 4000 S II for many years so when they introduced the GP5000 I thought why not, they must have improved the GP 4000 S II. Big mistake. Bought a Twin Pack and after 1 200 km I punctured twice with the outer rubber separating from the inner portion of the tire and was stuck on the road each time. I blame that on bad luck so I ordered a second Twin Pack and had another puncture. These tires are not made to handle road hazards, period. So I will try to purchase only GP 4000 S II from now on.
This best, grippiest, flat proof tire, they are amazing. Being over 200, by back tire wears faster than my front, so I rotate them. Conti's are fantastic, ride just like tubular's.
Great Tire - Smooth and Quick
Thanks to the gentleman who put the widths of the new 5000's comparing them with the older 4000s2's in his review!!! Because of the smaller widths, I can now use the 700-28's on all my older bikes which did not have the clearance with the 4000S2's. I have already converted two vitus 979's over and am going to order more if and when Probikekit ever gets them in stock again. These ride so smooth, absorb bumps (very important to me - with arthritis in my wrists and hands), and are so quick on acceleration - it's like they have no resistance at all. Absolutely a great tire!!!!
Out of Round Tire
I ordered a pair of 700 c x 28 mm GP5000 clinchers. One tire was fine, the other tire is slightly out of round and had a slight wobble. I remounted the out of round tire several times thinking it was an install problem and even mounting the high spot on different spots on the brand new rims (they are perfectly true with no wobble) but the tire is out of round. I have the GP 5000 in a 25 mm on other rims and I love them. The out of round tire I could do without!
Bought these two months ago. I had 4 flats in the past 3 weeks because these tires can’t handle any rocks on the road. My last set of 5000s (purchased locally) lasted me a whole racing season so I don’t think the current set of tires are genuine. Just my opinion but recommend not buying these from ProBikeKit. Something ain’t right here.
An improved version of an already great tire...
I was skeptical that the GPS 5000 would be better than it's predecessor however, it is! Grip, rolling resistance and comfort all seem to be slightly better. Also, like the fact that they are more true to size than the GPS 4000SII. The best all rounder I've ever ridden...
