The Grand Prix 4000S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tyre on the market. Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art BlackChili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course Continental's Vectran anti puncture breaker layer underneath. So for reliability, longevity and all out performance for your race machine, the GP 4000S II is the only choice.
How are these figures possible? The carbon filler particles within the rubber compound are reduced to 1/10th of the size of standard carbon particles. This creates a closer knit with the particles having more points of contact with each other, thus forming a tighter bond, (increasing mileage performance) and also with the road (increasing grip). Also the way in which the particles interact with each other has a dramatic effect on reducing rolling resistance. Black Chili is used by several ProTour and Continental teams as shown opposite.
The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

These are the third set of Continental tyres that I've purchased during recent years and I am very happy with their performance so far - as I have also been satisfied with the 'older' models of this tyres. I have completed many thousands of kilometres on each of the sets of tyres with no problems. I have been lucky enough to only experience two punctures in all this time neither of which can be attributed to the tyres themselves. I'm sure that the tyres have given a higher level of puncture resistance than the cheaper brands that I used to purchase and, incidentally, Continental do specify some elevated puncture resistance in the information supplied with the tyres. They are hand-made in Germany and that also gives me some reassurance that the tyre is well made and will stand up to the rigours of long distance and trouble-free riding. I'm only a 'weekend warrior' and retired but I'm happy to continue to purchase these tyres and would recommend them to others.
These tyres are grippy and supple but still have good rolling resistance Resist pincturing as well, I supose thts why they are one of the most popular tyres.
Good tyres they are round and black
Been using these for years and they continue to deliver. Handle to training kms and racing kms equally as well.
These are good reliable tyres. I have purchased them for many years now and have used them for racing as well as training. I get good mileage and will continue to used these tyres.
Wore out GP400S so went back for the version 2. They roll onto the rim easily, grip like a champ, and wear very evenly. Got almost 5000Km out of the last set. My "go to" tyre choice every time. Buy them.
1 day late. Not Australian company so postage not quick Delivered to wrong house next door. Nice product Good communication Neighbour is a good postman I can trust. Best price on net. Got them. Check for discount vouchers/discounts from all bike dealers via google ie "Probikekit Coupons" etc. Overall HAPPY....
Very good no punctures and reliable tyre
Excellent all round tyre at a great price on sale
Tyre is very comfortable and smooth to ride. Not sure why I had to pay an international transaction fee when I was buying through the Australian ProBikeKit site. Feel a bit duped.
Very reliable service matches a very reliable Tyre Thank you
Always an excellent product and as described. Postage time to Australia on this occasion was nearly 5 1/2 weeks which was lengthy in my opinion.
I have usedConti for years. Very hard wearing but also very quick.
Since they've been installed these tyres have provided a great riding experience on the road. They're still quite new but no punctures, good contact with road surface, and rolls nicely. It's hard to find a tyre in the 650C size and these are a great option in a limited range. I found them hard to install and pinched a couple of tubes in the process but a hairdryer to the tricky areas softens up the rubber and makes it a little easier. Also, it may have been do to my rims or my lack of experience. Recommended
Very happy with my recent purchase of these tyres. Excellent performance.
Really nice rolling tyre. Reliable and excellent for training and racing.
I've been using the GP4000S 23mm tyres for years and have just swapped over to the 25mm. Great tyres in all conditions.
Early days in terms of kms but so far so good. According to Strava I went faster - and that was the point!
Had looked for a while at the conti GP 4000S but was waiting for a great price and also older Conti tyres to wear out. Well recently that event occurred and so purchased two tyres but also bought 25mm to replace the older 23mm ones. They are excellent. Sure footed in wet, better rolling than the smaller 23mm (friends cannot believe this) and a lower pressure gives a softer ride to the rear end. Cannot recommend them enough to others and wife now waiting for the upgrade to her 23mm Specialised tyres.
After about 1000ks the tyre developed a side wall split. I did some research and realised that this is a common defect with the tyre. I'm off the conti's ftom now on.
