Works, but not all flavours are tasty

I have a terrible problem with cramps during a mountain bike race. I got a lot of these tablets as samples a few months ago and discovered that they are very good at warding off the cramps (it seems to be the magnesium for me - so these have enough Mg).
I quite like one of the flavours and really disliked a second one. As flavour is a personal preference I will simply say try them all to find one that works for you.
Drop a tablet into the bottle and off you go. Beware the first drink as this stuff is slightly effervescent and it makes the bottle burp. I may never mess with jars of powders again.

Excellent Sports drink

I am no fan of the typical, Gatorade-type sports drink. Find the taste odd, and my stomach doesn't take well to it.

Received a number of free sample packs of Zero Cal High5, and started using them, as the Spring riding season is finally arriving here in Canada.

What a surprise, it has a light taste, and I keep reaching for the bottle for another sip - have been drinking more than if I had plain water as I always had.

The product comes in small envelopes, one tablet in each, rated for 500 ml of mixed drink. My first tries, I took my usual 750 ml bottle partially filled, and mixed the tablet it. It's effervescent, like an Alka-Seltzer tablet, and dissolves cleanly even in cold water.

Loved the taste, and am now buying the 20 tablet tube for daily use.

If you want to fill a 750 ml and keep the recommended mixing ratio, you can mix a tablet and a half (split with a knife), or just add two tablets. Take one extra in your pocket, for on-the-road bottle refills.

Great taste product - got me hooked. Thanks PBK for the free samples.

May help prevent cramp by replacing vital minerals lost through sweating

It works for me. After a couple of trials on local training rides, I used these tabs in one of my bottles on the final stage of this year’s Etape du Tour - the Col du Tourmalet - among the longest, hottest, toughest hills I’ve ever had the joy to pedal up. Although I suffered like a dog, and sweated like a donkey, I did have a single twinge of cramp.

Finally, it’s important to realise that Zero is not an energy drink. As the name implies, the tabs contain very minimal carbohydrate, no sugars and no caffeine. When training, racing or riding sportives, you’ll need to take on the usual amounts of carbohydrate, and you’ll need to hydrate as well - two other key components of avoiding cramp.
