20,000 mile review

5

I put about 20,000 miles on these in all conditions around Boston. Solid wheels. Bearings were fine, wore through one freehub, still had some brake track left. No trueing or spoke replacing that I didn't cause by crashing on ice. It took 20 minutes to replace one spoke when I did. You do have to buy a 4 pack of spokes, which is annoying. They are a little aero, not much. Feel solid and heavy. Zonda feels much lighter, strava says it is a little slower.

i am at the absolute rider weight limit,(perhaps slightly over!!) and these wheels are rock solid as are all of rhe campy wheels i've ever ridden. they aren't overly heavy, they are nice and stiff and roll nicely. i've nevrer had a campy wheel go out of true and i expect these will be the same. i have absolutely no complaint about these wheels and much to like about them. any set of wheels that handles my super-clydesdale carcass without trouble is great in my book. they look nice too! buy campy wheels, they don't break!

Excellent Wheels

5

I get it; everyone is switching to disk brakes but I'm not there yet and as a result I was looking for a great pair of clincher road wheels. I have multiple pairs of Campy wheels and they have all be great and these are no different. They are well build, reasonably light, straight and true; bottom line is that they aren't going to be what holds you back from your best time. They will make you a better rider.

Nice wheels

I purchased a set of these wheels back in August 2018. Didn't use them exclusively until January 2019. Put 6500 miles on them in 2019 and 7000 miles on them in 2020. They are sturdy wheels. Riding in the San Antonio Texas area on the rough roads, steep hills, farm roads, very few smooth roads. The rear wheel bearing need to be repacked, just noticed they need this in October 2020. Other that that these wheels are solid. I am considering another pair. Very reliable with 23mm, 25mm, and 28mm tires. You can't go wrong with a purchase of these wheels.

so far so good

I purchased these for off-season replacements. They are lighter than the stock wheelset on my 2008 Giant TCR A1 (Xero XSR-3), which I had worn out over the years. Out of the (well-packaged) box they were mostly round and true, though needed a few quick tweaks on the truing stand. On the stand they seem to spin less freely than my broken-in wheels, though I understand this is typical of newer wheels and they may spin more freely once warmed up. They seem of good quality. I’m curious how the spoke lacing pattern holds up over time. I’ll update after riding a bit on indoor trainers this winter, and after Spring rides start up again.

Scirocco Wheels

4

Been riding these about 500kms mix of commuting and training rides. Flat tracks and hilly included. Bought as training wheels. Came nicely packaged and was easy to get set up. I run with 23mm tyres (currently Gatorskins) and they install easy, fit nice and flush looking and roll nice. At first I felt they spin up a bit slower and need a bit more work climbing (they are heavier than what I had before) but now I’m getting used to them (stronger?). I’m convinced they are easier to maintain a higher average speed with on flats and they are quick downhill which I put down to aerodynamics - my other wheels are all shallower and blunt/flat-faced rims. The wheels run true as measured by having my brakes closer to rims without rubbing. I find them comfy but not floppy. Also relatively quiet. Overall very happy with what I got at the price point.

Beautiful Wheelset

5

As usual, PBK delivered these fast and a day early. People say these are a little on the heavier side, but in reality, these are a great lightweight set of wheels. Obviously compared to carbon theres a difference, but overall, they are light. They are well made, super slick and just look great. Highly recommend.
