Tacx brake block tuner

This is a fantastic device - if you are using rim brakes then just get one. It sets re pads perfectly and has really improved performance - far more than simply replacing pads. Service from probikekit was also first class

Good bit of kit

Simple, good bit of kit that makes it straight forward to set up your pads quickly. Only downside is it doesn't fit on deep section wheels like my carbones.

Great Little tool

I've always struggled to get my brakes set just right - you need 3 pairs of hands to do it right. I usually tie wrap the brake lever to hold the pads in place and use tie wrap ends to set the toe in. But it's still fiddly and I could never quite get the pads set right. I bought this as it looked simple enough to work. And work it does. The inner side of the tool has a small lip which you can locate on the wheel rim for perfect positioning and the outer edge has a rim to line the pads on. Took me a couple of minutes per bike. Perfect brake alignment. No squeal. No tyre wall contact. Even pad wear. And more confident and effective braking even in this dismally wet weather. Well worth a few few quid.

Peace of mind

Now my son would probably say, what do you want one of these for? However, he's young free & single and I'm somewhat cautious. So I found it quite handy to tune my brakes knowing that at least if I'm about to hit something, it's the fault of the rider not his mechanics. I used it to set up my road bike brakes and the results were pleasing, with the instructions easy for even me to follow. Now I have brake blocks that are actually equally spaced from the rims. True, you could probably use a piece of card or similar which is why I've only given it a 4, but for piece of mind, it now occupies a small space in my tool box.

Brilliant piece of kit

Makes fixing new brake blocks a breeze. Used it on both my mountain and road bikes. Now have silent and perfectly aligned brakes, with no guesswork.

Good product. But needs an update by Tacx

The brake tuner works great for 40mm or less deep wheels. Anything high and it will not clear. I see that probikekit has finally updated their description to indicate this. But when I purchased this Tacx brake tuner from them it was not indicated anywhere that deep aero wheels would not work.

Pros:
1.) It will ensure you have the rotation of the brake pad even on both sides
2.) Will provide the toe in required for silent running brakes
3.) The screw that allows the brake tuner to be clamped on to the rim gives you two hands to work to adjust things. Rather than one hand holding folded business cards.

Cons:
1.) Does not work for deep aero wheels
2.) pricey for what it is
