Dura-Ace
Dura-Ace represents the pinnacle of Shimano's groupset
hierarchy. It was first introduced by the Japanese component maker in 1973 and
has since gone on to become a firm favourite of WorldTour riders and amateurs
alike. Introduced as up to 6-speed, through refinement of its production
process over the decades, this latest iteration offers a mountain-flattening 12-speed.
Of course, performance has improved in this time too. The most recent edition offers
crisp and quick-as-a-flash electronic shifting, unrivalled performance, and hydraulic
braking. So whether it’s a crankset, Di2 shifters, or a replacement chainring explore
the range at ProBikeKit.
Engineered For Speed
Adorning the bikes of numerous road-racing champions,
Dura-Ace has been engineered for speed. Indeed, speed, according to Shimano,
was the ‘driving force’ behind the R9200 series. As well as being faster than
ever, the latest series looks cleaner than ever too. The Di2 shifters now work semi-wirelessly,
so that the cockpit is free from wires. Not only is this tidier looking, but with
less things hitting the air it’s also faster. The front derailleur has also
been refined further for speed. The frontal profile has been reduced 33%, saving
you yet more watts. Although these differences might total up to a fraction of
a second, for a groupset used by pros at the highest level of the sport, a fraction
of a second may be the difference between winning and losing.
All The Tech
Integrating Shimano’s Hyperglide+ technology, shifting is
now faster than ever. Introduced to the brand’s mountain bike groupsets,
Hyperglide+ ensures better chain engagement and retention, translating to being
able to more effectively change gears on varied terrain.
Hollowtech II technology is incorporated into the crankset.
Hollowtech II is the brand’s way of keeping weight down, while maintaining
strength and stiffness. What’s more, cranksets are now offered in a wider range
of crankarm lengths, enabling you to get the perfect fit for you.
It’s almost a necessity in modern cycling to train with
power. Optionally, Shimano offer integrated dual-side power meters into the
R92000 crankset. The waterproof design, rechargeable battery, and <1.5%
accuracy makes this an ideal training companion for training and racing.
If all that isn’t enough. Fear of being stuck in your
biggest gear are kept to a minimum with 300 hours of battery life on offer; you’ll
be able to conquer even the steepest of ascents with the option to fit an 11-34-tooth
cassette; and the hydraulic-braking system has been improved to provide more
powerful, consistent braking performance than ever.
As you would expect, Dura-Ace groupsets demonstrate high-quality
construction, which is both incredibly durable and reliable. So, whether you're
building your next performance road racer, or a neo-classic retro build, shop the
huge range at ProBikeKit.
