Coach Joe Friel is the most trusted name in endurance sports coaching, and his Cyclists Training Bible is the most comprehensive and reliable training resource ever written for cyclists. This new edition of the bestselling book includes all of the latest advances in training and technology. Using this book, cyclists can create a comprehensive, self-coached training plan that is both scientifically proven and shaped around their personal goals.

Friel empowers athletes with every detail they need to consider when planning a season, lining up a week of workouts, or preparing to race. This fourth edition includes extensive revisions on the specifics of how to train and what to eat. Friel explains how cyclists can:

  • Best gauge intensity with power meters and other new training technology to maximize form and fitness and reduce fatigue;
  • More knowledgeably and accurately make changes to their annual training plan over the course of a season;
  • Dramatically build muscular endurance with strength training;
  • Improve body composition and recovery with smarter nutrition.

With more case studies to draw from and multiple contingency plans for those times when training doesnt progress as planned, The Cyclists Training Bible continues to be the definitive guide to optimal cycling performance.

Buy it and take control of your workouts

I never understand why people pay absurd amounts of money for coaching at the amateur level when there are great books like this around. Joe Friel lays out most of what you'll need in order to train as a well-rounded cyclist. From initial testing, to specific workouts, and even nutritional considerations...it's all here. Just put in a little time to read though the book and you'll be able to develop a training plan that will help you on your way towards great results in the seasons to come.

Awesome Book A Must Have

This book is a must have for the beginner to competitive racer. The book is literally the Bible for cyclists. It covers everything from training, racing, nutrition, periodization and more! I am a competitive triathlete and cyclist, and I still refer back to this book at times!

The only note I will make, is the information is pretty much the same when it comes to most things between the triathlete training bible and the cycling training bible. You only need to buy one if you compete in both. And I would probably go with the Triathlete Bible

Very accurate title... this is our Bible

Everything you need to know about periodization is laid out in an easy to understand and applicable way. It is also structured to guide you through a range of progression as a cyclist and it covers wide range of topics such as motivation and nutrition.
